Does drinking alcohol once a week affect weight loss?

I've started a new fitness regime and am trying to cut down on calories to lose weight. I only drink alcohol once a week, mostly beer or a cocktail. Does having drinks just once a week still mess up my weight loss efforts?

Yes, even once a week can slow your progress due to extra liquid calories and weekend cravings. Just try to track your drinks and stay active.

I used to feel so guilty after my Saturday night drinks because my weight would shoot up on Sunday morning. It really does stall your weight loss progress temporarily, but please don't be too hard on yourself. Finding a balance is a journey and it's okay to take your time.

It can slow down your progress a little bit because of the extra calories, but please don't stress. Just focus on eating healthy during the rest of the week and staying active. You are doing great, just take it one day at a time.

Even drinking once a week adds empty calories and slows your metabolism for about 24 hours. If you decide to drink, choose lower-calorie options like vodka with water, and make sure to drink double the amount of water to keep your hydration up.

Honestly, yes bro. I was working out 5 days a week but my Saturday night beers were completely stalling my weight loss. The problem is not just the alcohol, but the heavy fried food you end up eating with it. Try skipping it for two weeks and you will see a big difference.
