Does drinking alcohol affect arthritis?

My knees have been troubling me a lot lately, and the doctor said it's arthritis. I occasionally have a glass of wine with dinner, but I'm not sure if it's making my joint pain worse.

I struggle with chronic inflammation due to PCOS, and I've noticed that alcohol generally increases inflammation in the body. It might be similar for arthritis, making joint pain worse. I'm not a doctor, but maybe try avoiding it for a couple of weeks to see if your joints feel better.

Yes, alcohol can definitely flare up arthritis symptoms. It causes dehydration, which reduces the lubrication in your joints, and it can also react badly with common pain medications or anti-inflammatory drugs you might be taking. Keep a close eye on this and discuss it with your specialist.

I had terrible gouty arthritis attacks last year and realized beer was the main trigger. Since I stopped drinking completely, my uric acid levels have normalized and the painful joint flare-ups have totally stopped. Cutting out alcohol was a total game-changer for my mobility.

My knees already make popping sounds like popcorn, and a night of drinking makes them feel twice as old the next morning! Alcohol definitely triggers joint stiffness for me. If you want to wake up without feeling like a rusty robot, it is better to skip the drinks.

Our bodies are beautiful temples and alcohol can sometimes disturb their inner harmony, causing pain like arthritis to flare up. Please stay positive, feed your body pure foods, and try to avoid drinks that cause inflammation. Wishing you peaceful health and healing.

Drinking definitely increases heat and swelling in the joints. I find drinking warm ginger tea or taking turmeric milk helps reduce normal joint aches, but alcohol will work against these remedies. If your arthritis pain is very severe or accompanied by redness, please consult a rheumatologist immediately.
