Does diet pop cause weight gain?

I'm trying to manage my weight and switched from regular soft drinks to diet pop. I thought it would help me avoid extra calories. But I've read some articles suggesting it might actually lead to weight gain. Does diet pop cause weight gain?

I have seen my colleagues drink these diet sodas for forty years trying to stay slim. It doesn't magically cause weight gain because there are no calories. But the real secret is that the people who drink them often eat a heavier meal thinking they saved calories.

I totally understand how stressful it is to worry about every single thing you drink when trying to stay healthy. I used to panic that diet pop would ruin my progress. Honestly, it doesn't cause weight gain because of zero calories, so please don't stress over an occasional can.

There are so many wild claims on the internet saying diet sodas make you fat by messing with your metabolism. Don't believe everything you read online without clinical proof. If you are concerned about your weight, consult a qualified dietitian who can guide you scientifically.

I had severe metabolic issues and thought switching to diet pop would fix everything, but it didn't help. It's always better to get a proper checkup to see why you are struggling with weight, rather than self-managing with diet sodas. Please see a doctor to get your thyroid and sugar levels checked.

When I was diagnosed with high BP, I had to review my entire lifestyle. Diet pop doesn't cause weight gain directly, but the sodium content can cause water retention in some people. Keep an eye on your overall sodium intake and get regular physical checkups.

I tried everything from lemon honey water to skipping rice to lose weight, and diet sodas did not help at all. While they don't have calories, they just keep your tongue used to sweet things. Simple, freshly made buttermilk or coconut water is much better for weight control.

Actually, diet pop has zero calories, so it won't directly add weight. But some research suggests artificial sweeteners can trigger hunger hormones, making you eat more later. Try to drink plain water or infused water instead.
