Does diet cause diabetes?

My mother recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and the doctor stressed changing her eating habits. I'm trying to understand more about it. Does diet cause diabetes, or are there other main factors involved?

I tried so many herbal mixtures and methi dana water when my sugar levels started fluctuating. Diet definitely plays a role, especially eating heavy, fried meals at night. Simple home-cooked food and portion control are the best ways to keep it in check.

Actually, diet is a huge part of it, yaar. Eating too much processed food and sugar all the time messes up your insulin. But it's also about genetics and lifestyle, not just one single thing.

Honestly, a bad diet and sitting all day is a bad combo. I was eating pizza and drinking soda almost daily and my HbA1c went up. I cut the junk, started running, and everything went back to normal.

While diet is undoubtedly a major contributing factor to Type 2 diabetes, genetics and physical activity levels also play significant roles. It's best to consult an endocrinologist or a certified clinical dietitian to get a personalised risk assessment.

According to my doctor, diet is a primary environmental factor for Type 2 diabetes. High intake of simple carbs and trans fats leads to insulin resistance over time. It's not just sugar, but overall caloric surplus and lack of activity that triggers it.

I track my daily macros and glucose spikes on an app, and it's crazy to see how simple maida spikes sugar levels instantly. A consistent diet high in simple carbohydrates can definitely lead to insulin resistance over time. Try tracking what you eat for a week to understand your patterns.

I won't give medical advice, but in my own family, those who ate a lot of sweets and junk got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes earlier. When I modified my own diet to include more fiber, my borderline sugar levels came back to normal.

As a certified foodie, this is my biggest fear! Diet definitely impacts it, especially if we keep overloading on sweet treats and heavy biryanis daily. I still eat what I love, but I try to balance it with lighter meals and walks.

My son was diagnosed with high blood sugar tendencies, and the doctor immediately asked us to change our family's eating habits. Less refined flour, more whole grains, and absolutely no packed juices. It takes effort as a parent, but a good diet protects the whole family.
