Does diet affect psoriasis?

My father has psoriasis, and he believes that certain foods make his flare-ups worse. He tries to avoid spicy food and some vegetables. Does diet actually affect psoriasis, and are there specific foods that can trigger or help it?

Yes, diet plays a huge role in inflammation. Cutting down on refined sugar and processed food really helped calm my skin flare-ups. I also try to do at least 45 minutes of brisk walking daily which helps keep the stress down, as stress also triggers psoriasis.

Diet is super important because psoriasis is an inflammatory condition. Eating clean proteins, leafy greens, and omega-3 rich foods like flaxseeds can make a difference. Combine that with regular workouts to keep your immune system strong, and you will definitely see improvements.

Actually, many patients I talk to notice that dairy, gluten, and alcohol can trigger their psoriasis flares. Try keeping a food diary to see what triggers your skin. But please don't start any extreme crash diets without checking with your dermatologist first.

A calm mind and simple, sattvik food can do wonders for the body. Eating fresh, home-cooked meals with gratitude helps heal from within. Take care of your health, stay positive, and let your body heal at its own natural pace.

I deal with chronic inflammation due to my PCOS and some skin issues too. Reducing sugar and oily junk food definitely helped ease the flare-ups, but it's a slow process. Everyone's body is different, so please be gentle with yourself and take it one day at a time.

I completely agree that diet affects it. Cutting down on spicy food and sweets made a big difference for my sister's skin.

With my busy schedule, I used to eat out a lot, and my skin flared up badly. I switched to simple dabba meals with less oil and spices, and it really helped manage the symptoms. It's tough to manage with work, but prep your meals over the weekend to stay on track.

Everyone on the internet will tell you to stop eating wheat or dairy, but honestly, don't trust these random claims blindly. What works for one person might do nothing for you. Go to a qualified dermatologist and get a proper clinical opinion instead of self-treating with extreme diets.
