Does clonazepam cause weight gain or loss?

Been on Clonazepam for a few months for my anxiety, and my weight has been fluctuating. I'm not sure if the medicine is causing it to go up or down, or if it has no effect. Can Clonazepam lead to either weight gain or weight loss?

I was just reading up on this because my cousin got prescribed this medicine. From what I found, it seems it can go either way depending on how it affects your appetite. Some people get sleepy and eat more, while others feel less anxious and stop emotional eating.

My psychiatrist actually explained this to me very clearly when I started. He said clonazepam doesn't directly change your fat metabolism, but its sedative effect can lower your daily activity, which might lead to weight gain. He advised me to track my calories and stay active to counter this.

Hey, don't stress too much about the scale right now. Everyone's body reacts differently to these meds, some lose a bit and some gain. Just focus on feeling better first, and keep a check on your daily routine.

Actually yaar, I didn't see any drastic change in my weight when I took it for a brief period. It just made me super drowsy in the mornings, so I had to adjust my coffee routine. Don't worry too much, just watch how your body behaves.

It mostly comes down to your daily energy balance. If the tablet makes you feel lethargic, you will naturally move less and burn fewer calories. Just try to go for a 30-minute walk daily and watch your sugar intake to keep things balanced.
