Does carefirst cover ozempic for weight loss?

My doctor recommended Ozempic for my weight management, but I know these newer medicines can be quite expensive. I have a health insurance policy; I'm wondering if it would cover Ozempic for weight loss.

Actually, yaar, CareFirst generally doesn't cover Ozempic if it's strictly for weight loss. They usually approve it only if you have Type 2 diabetes, so you'll have to check your plan's specific rules.

These modern foreign medicines and their insurance approvals are very complicated. While you fight with the insurance company, don't forget that eating simple, home-cooked food and drinking warm cumin water can also help your digestion.

Bhai, these insurance companies make us run around a lot for expensive injections. It is best to call their office directly and ask them clearly so you don't waste your hard-earned money.

I've seen this question a lot in the group. CareFirst typically requires a prior authorization from your doctor, and they rarely cover Ozempic unless you have a documented history of diabetes. Have your doctor check for alternative options.

I totally understand how heartbreaking it is when you find a treatment that could help you, only for insurance to deny it. Many of us have faced this exact issue with Ozempic, so please don't lose hope.

Trying to get Ozempic approved for weight loss is harder than resisting hot jalebis on a rainy day! Usually, CareFirst only covers Wegovy for weight loss, while Ozempic is kept strictly for diabetes.
