Does birth control cause weight gain or loss?

I'm thinking of starting birth control, but my friend told me she gained a lot of weight after taking it. Is this a common side effect, or does it sometimes lead to weight loss instead? I'm a bit worried about the changes to my body.

I agree with the general view. From what my wife experienced, the weight changes are mostly temporary water retention and adjust within a few months.

I track my partner's health metrics on our smart scale, and we noticed about 1.5 kg of water weight fluctuation in the first month of her starting the pill. It didn't affect her actual fat percentage, and her weight stabilized completely by week twelve. Use a tracking app to monitor your patterns.

Hormones can shift your appetite, but they don't break the laws of physics. If you are keeping a track of your daily calories and staying active with walking or gymming, the pill won't cause any real fat gain. Focus on your training consistency.

Actually, my sister lost a bit of weight because her hormonal bloating cleared up, while I gained a tiny bit of water weight on the same pill. It really varies from person to person. Just give your body some time to adapt and don't panic.

I completely understand how scary it is to start a pill when you're worried about your body changing. I had sleepless nights thinking I would gain massive weight, but honestly, my weight stayed almost exactly the same. Your peace of mind is most important, so take it easy.

Stop reading those random forums where people claim they gained 20 kgs overnight from a tiny pill. Most of those stories lack any scientific basis. Go talk to a qualified gynecologist who can explain the actual clinical data to you.

Bhai weight change thoda bohot toh hota hi hai haan, but har kisi ka body different hota hai. Apni diet thodi clean rakho aur stress mat lo na, sab normal ho jayega thode time mein.

I feel like I'm constantly holding water in my face and ankles since I started my new pack. I'm so worried that this bloated feeling won't go away. Did anyone else feel very puffy and heavy in the beginning?
