Does bcbs cover weight loss injections?

My wife told me about these new weight loss injections. I am trying to lose some stubborn weight, and if BCBS covers them, it might be a good route to explore. Anyone has experience with this?

According to the detailed policy my doctor shared, BCBS plans often cover weight loss injections like Saxenda or Wegovy, but only if your BMI is over 30, or over 27 with co-morbidities like high BP. They also look at whether you have been on a supervised diet plan for at least six months.

Haan yaar, BCBS cover toh karta hai par inke nakhre bahut hain. You have to get approval from your doctor first, directly pharmacy se nahi milega na. Just talk to your consultant and tell them to write a strong recommendation letter.

Before you think about coverage, please ensure you get a full health checkup done. Weight loss injections have various side effects on the liver and pancreas, so safety should be your first priority. Let a doctor evaluate if these injections are even safe for your body type.

I totally get it, dealing with weight issues is hard enough without having to fight with insurance companies. It can feel so exhausting. Just hang in there, many people do get their injections covered after a bit of back-and-forth paperwork.

Instead of stressing over complex injections and insurance approvals, why not check if your plan covers a registered dietician? Sometimes, simple diet counseling is fully covered and works wonders if we follow it honestly. It is much easier than getting injection approvals.

My daughter's doctor recommended these injections because her weight was affecting her joints. BCBS did approve it for her, but we had to submit her pediatric growth charts and daily activity logs. It is a bit tedious but totally worth it for our kids' health.
