Does anthem cover weight loss medication?

My doctor mentioned that weight loss medications could be helpful for me. I wanted to know if my Anthem health insurance plan covers these types of medicines. Any information would be great.

I kept ignoring my weight and high cholesterol for years until it became a major issue. When I finally went for a checkup, my doctor helped me get weight loss meds covered through Anthem. Please get a proper health checkup done and ask your doctor about insurance.

Focus on keeping your mind calm and your body healthy. If these medications are necessary for your healing, your insurance company will hopefully approve them. Talk to your doctor and take care.

Yes, they do cover it sometimes! My doctor had to submit a prior authorization form showing my health history, and Anthem approved it within a week. Just make sure your doctor's office is helpful with the paperwork.

Look, there is no single answer to this. Anthem has hundreds of different plans, and some cover weight loss drugs while others don't. Call the customer service number on your insurance card directly and get the facts.

I spent half my night trying to understand Anthem's online drug list and ended up with a headache. From what I gathered, they might cover it, but only if you jump through several bureaucratic hoops with your doctor.

My company's Anthem plan covered my weight loss pills, but my cousin's plan under the same company didn't. It really comes down to what specific package your employer selected. Check your portal.
