Does anthem cover glp 1 for weight loss?

My doctor recently mentioned GLP-1 medications as a possible option for my significant weight loss journey. I have an Anthem health insurance policy. Can you tell me if Anthem covers GLP-1 drugs for weight loss purposes?

Actually yaar, it is a bit of a hit or miss. Some Anthem plans cover GLP-1 drugs for weight loss, but many only cover them if you have type 2 diabetes. You should check your drug list online.

Hey! 🌸 Many Anthem plans do cover GLP-1s, but they usually ask for a prior authorization from your doctor first! Just give them a quick call to check your specific benefits! ✨

Yes, they cover it under select plans but usually require your doctor to submit clinical proof of need.

Look, don't get your hopes too high without checking. Call the number on the back of your card and ask if GLP-1s are on your plan's formulary. Every company's plan is different.

If your Anthem plan has a high copay for GLP-1s, ask your doctor if there are generic alternatives or manufacturer coupons available. It is always good to have a backup plan for the monthly costs.

I tried every home remedy and diet under the sun to lose weight but nothing worked due to my health conditions. My doctor recommended a GLP-1, and thankfully our Anthem plan covered it after some paperwork. Do talk to your doctor.

I ignored my weight and rising sugar levels for years until I had a health scare. When I finally went to the doctor, they helped me get GLP-1 covered through Anthem. Don't delay your checkup, health is first.

Some Anthem plans cover these injections, but even with meds, you have to keep up with regular exercise and a solid calorie deficit. Ask your doctor to check both your fitness plan and insurance options.
