Does aetna cover zepbound for weight loss?

I've been hearing a lot about Zepbound for weight loss. I have Aetna health insurance and was hoping to find out if Aetna covers Zepbound for weight loss management.

Losing weight at 50 is hard enough, but dealing with insurance to get Zepbound is a whole different level of struggle! Yes, they cover it, but they make you jump through so many hoops you might actually lose a kilo just doing the paperwork.

Hey, don't stress too much about the process! Lots of people are getting it approved now. Just have a chat with your doctor and let them handle the initial request with Aetna, it usually goes through if you have the right medical history.

It definitely depends on your specific plan design, but many Aetna policies do cover it! Just call the number on the back of your card to check your benefits. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey! 😊

I just got my approval for Zepbound last month under my corporate Aetna plan. My doctor had to submit a prior authorization showing that my BMI was over the limit and that I had tried other methods first.

I totally get how stressful it is to worry about whether you can afford these medications. The fear of rejection from insurance is very real. Just take a deep breath and take it one step at a time with your doctor.

In my long life, I have seen many medical advancements, and these new treatments are wonderful. Don't worry, if your doctor says you need it, keep trying with the insurance company. Things always work out with a little patience.

From what I see daily, Aetna usually requires your prescriber to document that you are also participating in a comprehensive weight management program. Make sure your doctor includes that in the prior authorization form to avoid delays.
