Does acanthosis nigricans go away with weight loss?

Since my doctor mentioned I have acanthosis nigricans, I've been trying hard to lose weight. I've noticed some dark patches on my neck and underarms, and I really hope they go away if I manage to reduce my weight. Is that usually the case?

Honestly, weight loss can make a big difference, but it might not go away completely if your hormones are imbalanced. I have thyroid issues and struggled with this too. Please get your HbA1c and thyroid levels tested regularly to see what the root cause is.

My grandmother used to say just apply besan and curd on the neck and it will fade. But when I spoke to my doctor, he explained that it is related to insulin resistance. Losing weight definitely helps to reduce it, but you should consult a proper physician first.

I completely understand how embarrassing this feels, I used to hide my neck with high collars and scarves. When I started working out and lost some weight, it actually did fade a lot. Don't lose hope, it takes time but it definitely gets better as your health improves.

Listen, weight loss is the main cure here because this happens due to high insulin. Fast food band karo aur roz walk pe jao, automatically light ho jayega neck. But short-cut creams ke peeche mat bhago, change your lifestyle instead.

Beta, losing weight and eating simple home-cooked meals is very important for this. You can also try applying a little raw milk and wild turmeric gently, but don't scrub it hard. If it doesn't improve, please show a skin doctor to get it checked properly.

At 50, trying to lose weight is like climbing Everest, but yes, my doctor told me those dark patches on my neck are a warning sign. The moment I cut down my sweet chai and lost 5 kgs, the marks started fading. Thoda mehnat toh karni padegi boss, no choice.
