Do zero calorie energy drinks cause weight gain?

Trying to cut down on sugar and calories, so I switched to zero-calorie energy drinks. My friend warned me they can still cause weight gain. Is there any truth to this, or are they really calorie-free and safe?

Strictly speaking from a calorie tracking perspective, they won't cause weight gain because they have zero calories. However, some studies logged in my fitness app suggest artificial sweeteners can trigger sweet cravings later in the day. Keep an eye on your overall daily calorie intake.

I used to drink these a lot thinking they are healthy, but they actually made me bloat and crave actual sugar even more. I switched to home-made lemon water with a pinch of black salt and felt much better. It's better to avoid chemical drinks if you want to lose weight.

In my days, we relied on simple filter coffee or tea for energy instead of these modern canned drinks. I have seen my kids drink these 'zero calorie' options, but they still struggle with weight because they eat junk alongside it. Stick to natural drinks, they are always safer in the long run.

While they do not contain calories, the impact of artificial sweeteners on our metabolism and appetite regulation is still being researched. Some people experience increased cravings, leading to indirect weight gain. It is best to consult a clinical nutritionist for a structured diet plan.

As a diabetic, I avoid these zero-calorie canned drinks because the sweeteners can still cause a minor insulin spike in some individuals, which makes you feel hungry later. It is much safer to drink plain buttermilk or black coffee without sugar to manage your weight and glucose levels.

These drinks won't directly make you gain weight since they lack calories, but the artificial sweeteners can affect your gut microbiome and insulin response. If you are drinking them occasionally, it is fine, but daily consumption isn't great for your metabolic health.
