Do you get hot flashes in early pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester, only about 7 weeks, and sometimes I feel sudden waves of heat, almost like a hot flash, even when the room temperature is fine. I thought hot flashes were for menopause, but can they happen in early pregnancy too?

Yes, I faced sudden warm flushes during my first few weeks too; wearing loose cotton clothes really helped.

I totally get it, suddenly feeling so hot and sweaty in the middle of a cool room is so uncomfortable and weird. It is just your body working overtime with all the new hormones. Try to sit near a fan and sip some cold water when it happens.

While mild feeling of warmth is common, please make sure it is not an actual low-grade fever from an underlying infection. I once ignored a persistent warm feeling that turned out to be a urinary tract infection. It is always safer to mention this to your doctor during your next visit.

Yes, hot flashes are totally a thing in early pregnancy because your estrogen levels are fluctuating wildly. It's completely normal, so don't stress about it. Just stay hydrated and keep your room well-ventilated.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I used to wake up completely drenched in sweat during my second month of pregnancy. I didn't take any medicine for it, I just used a hand fan and drank lots of water, and it eventually went away by the second trimester.

I ignored my sudden sweating episodes thinking they were just normal early pregnancy symptoms, but it turned out my thyroid levels had spiked. Please don't delay or guess things like I did. Go get your routine thyroid and hormone blood tests done on time.

Yes, I had severe hot flashes during my first trimester. My tip is to avoid spicy foods and caffeine as they can act as triggers and make the flashes worse. Carrying a wet wipe pack in your bag is also a lifesaver when you are outdoors.
