Do women require more sleep?

My sister always seems to need more sleep than me to feel refreshed. Is it a common biological difference, meaning do women require more sleep generally?

I read somewhere that because women multitask so much, their brains actually need more recovery time. I get so anxious when I don't get my 8 hours, thinking it will ruin my health. Please make sure you are sleeping well, it's so important to prevent other health issues.

I am also trying to understand this because I feel tired all the time even after sleeping 7 hours. Do hormonal cycles like periods or thyroid issues make us need more rest than normal? If anyone has experienced this, please let me know.

I totally understand how exhausting it gets managing everything. For better sleep, I always recommend drinking a cup of warm turmeric milk or chamomile tea half an hour before bed. It calms the nerves beautifully and helps you wake up feeling completely refreshed.

If you are feeling excessively tired, instead of guessing, it is better to get a basic blood test done for vitamin D and B12. You can book these online for around 500-800 rupees during discounts. It is a much better practical plan than spending money on expensive sleep supplements later.

Yes, medically speaking, women's brains run hotter and need about 20 minutes more sleep than men. Since we all have crazy busy schedules, try setting a strict screen-off time by 10 PM. This small change will improve your sleep depth even if you can't get extra hours.

As someone with PCOS, I have noticed my body needs way more sleep to feel normal, probably due to hormonal imbalances. But everyone's body is different, so what works for me might not be the same for you. It's always safest to discuss your fatigue levels with a gynecologist.
