Do weights help weight loss?

I've been trying to lose some weight for a while now, mainly focusing on cardio and diet. My gym trainer recently suggested adding weight training. Does lifting weights really help with losing body fat?

Honestly, I was searching about this last night because I want to shed some kilos before my cousin's wedding. From what I read, lifting weights actually burns calories even when you are resting because it builds muscle. It's not just about cardio all the time, which is such a relief to know.

Please don't blindly start lifting heavy dumbells looking at some random Instagram reels. Everyone's body, bone density, and joint health are different, and doing it wrong can cause major injuries. Talk to a proper physician or a certified trainer first to see what suits your body.

In our times, we didn't have these fancy gyms, we just did hard manual work and ate clean ghar ka khana. If you want to lose weight, start with simple walking and maybe drinking warm water with lemon in the morning. If you still want to lift heavy weights, do it slowly so you don't hurt your back at this age.

Yes, they really do help quite a bit. Just take it one day at a time and don't push yourself too hard in the beginning. You are doing great by just researching and trying to take care of your health.

I can only speak from my own journey of losing 10 kg last year. Adding basic weight training three times a week made a huge difference compared to just running on the treadmill. My body shape changed completely and I felt much stronger, but that's just what worked for me.

Bro, I just went through this transformation phase over the last six months. I was stuck on a weight loss plateau just doing cardio, but once I started strength training, the fat started melting off. Trust the process and start with light weights to get your form right first.
