Do protein shakes aid weight loss?

I'm trying to lose weight and a friend at the gym swears by protein shakes for keeping her full and boosting metabolism. She told me they help a lot. Do protein shakes aid weight loss, or is it more about overall calorie deficit?

They can help if they are low in sugar and used to replace a high-carb meal. But as a diabetic, I have to be very careful because some protein powders have hidden sweeteners that can spike insulin. Always read the label before buying.

I used whey protein shakes to lose 12 kgs last year. The trick is to drink it with water, not milk, and use it to curb your evening snack cravings. Just drinking shakes while eating normal meals won't help you lose any weight.

I started taking protein shakes last week for weight loss but I feel so bloated and heavy now. Does anyone else feel like this when starting? I am worried it is actually making me look bigger instead of helping me slim down.

Buying protein tubs worth 5000 rupees is not necessary for weight loss. You can get the same results by drinking sattu water or eating boiled sprouts, which cost next to nothing. Plan your diet budget practically instead of chasing expensive trends.

In my opinion, natural food like paneer, dal, and dahi are the best for weight loss. These packaged powders can sometimes upset your stomach. If you experience severe bloating or digestive pain after taking them, please consult a doctor.

Honestly, the only weight I lost after buying those expensive protein shakes was from my wallet! They do keep you full, but only if you actually manage to resist eating dinner after drinking them. It requires too much self-control.
