Do pregnancy tests expire?

I found an old pregnancy test kit in my drawer that I bought a few months ago. It still looks okay, but I'm wondering if these tests have an expiry date or if they just stop working after a while? Is it still reliable to use?

I completely understand the anxiety of waiting for a test result and worrying if the kit itself is faulty. Yes, they do expire because the chemical that detects HCG degrades over time. It is best to buy a fresh one so you don't have to stress over a wrong result.

Yes, they do have an expiration date printed on the back of the box. Using an expired one might give you an incorrect result and cause unnecessary worry. Take care and I hope you get the result you are hoping for.

Yes, they definitely expire. The test uses antibodies to bind with the HCG hormone, and these proteins break down over time, usually within 2 to 3 years of manufacturing. My doctor friend always advises checking the EXP date on the box foil before testing.

Yes, these worldly things have their limits and they do expire after a couple of years. Just buy a new one from the chemist and take the test with a calm, positive mind. Whatever happens is for the best, so keep your heart peaceful.

Yes, they expire, so don't buy those bulk packs of 10 tests to save money unless you plan to use them all soon. An expired test is just a waste of money because you will end up buying a new one anyway to confirm the result. Just buy one fresh kit when you actually need it.

Yes, they do go out of date, and using an expired strip often leads to faint, confusing lines. Always look at the side of the packaging before buying. If you have older kits lying around in your cabinet, it is much safer to throw them away and spend a little on a fresh kit.

I literally faced this last month! I used an old kit from my drawer and it showed a super faint line that got me so confused. When I bought a fresh one from the chemist, it was a clear negative. Definitely check the expiry date first!
