Do nicotine patches help with weight loss?

I've gained a bit of weight recently and am looking for ways to shed some kilos. A friend casually mentioned that nicotine patches might help with weight loss. Is there any truth to this, or is it just a myth?

Nicotine can suppress appetite slightly, but using patches for weight loss is highly risky, especially if you have other health issues. For proper weight management, a clean diet and controlling your carb intake is the only safe way.

Please don't use nicotine patches for weight loss, it can mess up your heart rate. I once ignored minor palpitations thinking it was normal and ended up in the emergency room. Always ask a doctor before trying such shortcuts.

Man, I wish there was a patch for weight loss, I'd paste it on my forehead! But seriously, patches are for quitting smoking, not dieting. They might actually keep you awake at night and trust me, sleep loss makes you eat more.

I used patches to quit smoking and actually gained a bit of weight because nicotine withdrawal increases appetite. They are absolutely not a weight loss tool. Stick to a calorie deficit and exercise if you want to lose weight healthily.
