Do men or women have a higher pain tolerance?

My wife and I always argue about who can handle pain better. She says women have a higher tolerance because of childbirth. So, genuinely, do men or women have a higher pain tolerance, or does it vary a lot?

In our experience, women bear the immense pain of childbirth, so their mental strength is very high. For general body aches, simple home remedies like warm turmeric milk work wonders for everyone.

God has made both equal, brother. Some men are very strong, and some women can bear so much pain without saying a single word. It depends on the person.

Biological studies actually suggest women might have higher nerve sensitivity but better coping mechanisms. On health apps, you see pain thresholds vary widely based on stress levels and sleep rather than just gender.

I used to think I had a high tolerance and ignored a sharp abdominal pain, which later turned out to be a ruptured appendix. Don't worry about who tolerates more—if you feel pain, please see a doctor.
