Do kidney stones hurt more for men or women?

My husband and I have both experienced kidney stones, and he claims his pain was much worse than mine. This made me wonder. Do kidney stones hurt more for men or women, or is the pain experience generally similar regardless of gender?

Honestly, kidney stone pain is incredibly intense regardless of your gender. The physical structure is slightly different, but the pain of a stone blocking the tract feels just as severe for both men and women. Just focus on getting proper medical help to ease the discomfort.

I don't care who it hurts more, all I know is that as a guy, this stone has kept me crying on the bathroom floor at 3 AM. It hurts like crazy for everyone. Just get to a doctor and get some relief.

The pain is severe for both, though some women compare it to childbirth labor pain. Instead of debating who has it worse, the most practical step is to book an appointment with a urologist immediately and get an ultrasound done.

I don't think comparing the pain helps, because when you are going through it, it feels like the worst pain in the world. It is emotionally and physically exhausting for anyone. Please don't let anyone downplay how much you are hurting right now.

Both genders feel extreme pain, but men have a longer urinary tract, which can sometimes make the passage feel longer and more painful. My tip is the same for everyone: don't try to be a hero, take the pain meds your doctor prescribed and stay hydrated.
