Do depression meds cause weight loss?

I've been on depression medication for a few months now, and I've actually noticed a bit of weight loss, not gain. My friend was telling me meds usually make you gain weight, so I'm confused. Can some depression medications cause weight loss instead?

Certain medicines can reduce your appetite initially, leading to weight loss. Gentle yoga and deep breathing can help stabilize your digestion and restore a natural balance during this period.

Yes, some people do experience a loss of appetite and lose weight when starting these medicines. Please let your doctor know so they can monitor you.

When I started my therapy course last year, I actually lost a few kilos because my interest in food went down. It returned to normal after a few weeks as my body adjusted to the medication.

Loss of appetite can be a side effect of certain antidepressants. Try eating small, nutrient-dense vegetarian meals throughout the day so your energy levels don't drop too low.

I once ignored rapid weight loss thinking it was just stress, and it turned out to be a major health issue. Please don't ignore sudden weight changes, get a proper clinical checkup immediately.

Actually, yes, some of my friends lost quite a bit of weight initially on these meds, yaar. But it is always safe to check with your doctor if the weight drop is too sudden.
