Do dental x rays show cavities?

I have my dental check-up next week, and they mentioned X-rays. I was wondering if these X-rays are actually good for finding cavities, or if the dentist mostly checks by looking inside the mouth. Just curious about the process.

Yes, they do. They help dentists see hidden cavities between your teeth quite easily. Don't worry, it is a very simple procedure.

Absolutely, they show exactly where the decay is starting, even under old fillings. It is better to get the X-ray done so you can fix it early and save money on a major root canal later.

Yes, dental X-rays are crucial. My dentist explained that visual exams can miss early decay between teeth, but the X-ray clearly shows loss of mineral density as dark spots, allowing for timely treatment.

Yes, they do. My daughter had no pain but the X-ray showed a small cavity starting right between her molars. We got it filled immediately, so it didn't trouble her at all.

They definitely do! I have had several dental issues over the years, and X-rays have always helped my dentist catch tiny cavities before they started hurting. It is a very routine and helpful scan.
