Do dental cleanings prevent cavities?

My dentist always recommends regular cleanings, but I was wondering if they actually help prevent cavities. I try to brush and floss daily, so is getting a professional cleaning really that important for cavity prevention?

Absolutely! It is like giving your teeth a VIP service. If you don't get them cleaned, the bacteria will host a permanent party there, and you definitely don't want to pay for that guest list!

They definitely help remove plaque, but you shouldn't assume it solves everything. Better to get a proper checkup done once every six months so the dentist can catch any minor tooth decay before it turns into a painful root canal.

I used to ignore dental cleaning thinking brushing twice is enough. But after my last scaling session, my dentist showed me how much tartar was removed, and my gums have stopped bleeding since then.

Getting a cleaning done for 1000-1500 rupees once a year is much better than spending 10,000 rupees on root canals and crowns later. It is a very practical way to save money on dental bills in the future.

Don't worry, scaling is a very standard and painless process. It cleans the hard-to-reach areas where our toothbrush can't go, which is exactly how you prevent cavities in the long run. Go get it done without any fear.
