Do cheat days help weight loss?

I've been trying to lose weight for a while now, and a friend suggested incorporating 'cheat days' into my diet plan. She said it helps with metabolism and motivation. Do cheat days actually help with weight loss in the long run?

Well, my mind certainly feels lighter on a cheat day, but my scale doesn't! Joking aside, a single cheat meal might help boost metabolism slightly, but an entire cheat day of eating bhaturas and sweets will just ruin a week's hard work.

I tried strict dieting with full cheat days, but it made me overeat. Instead, I found that drinking warm lemon water in the morning and having very small portions of my favorite foods occasionally works much better for steady weight loss.

I've been reading up on this. It seems cheat meals are better than a full 'cheat day' because they help satisfy cravings and reset leptin levels, making it easier to stick to your diet long-term.

Honestly, cheat days only help me sleep better after eating a mountain of biryani. Scientifically, they might prevent your metabolism from slowing down, but don't go as crazy as I do or you'll just gain it all back!

In my experience helping people on their health journeys, a structured cheat meal is very helpful mentally so you don't feel deprived. However, always ensure you keep a track of overall weekly calories so you stay in a deficit.
