Do beta blockers cause weight loss?

I'm taking beta blockers for my hypertension, and I'm also trying to manage my weight. I vaguely remember someone saying these medications could even lead to weight loss. Is there any truth to that, or is it more likely to be weight neutral?

Hey dear, actually it is usually the opposite, beta blockers are more known to cause a little weight gain rather than weight loss because they slow down your heart rate. But please don't stress too much about the scale right now, your heart health is the top priority!

I have been taking these for my high blood pressure for three years. I have never experienced weight loss from them; in fact, I had to be more active to prevent weight gain. Make sure you get your BP checked regularly and discuss any unexpected weight changes with your doctor.

They don't typically cause weight loss since they lower your metabolic rate and resting heart rate. If your doctor allows, light cardiovascular exercise like daily brisk walking is a great way to keep your heart healthy and manage your body composition while on this medication.

Generally, these pills do not cause weight reduction. If you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight loss along with feeling weak or dizzy, please don't try any home remedies. Go see your doctor immediately as it could be a sign of a serious dosage issue.

Usually, these medicines calm the body's systems, which does not lead to weight loss. Just focus on keeping your mind peaceful and taking care of your health daily. Keep a positive outlook, eat simple meals, and trust your doctor's care.

They actually tend to make you feel a bit sluggish, making weight loss harder. I found that eating light, warm home-cooked food and avoiding heavy dinners helped me manage my weight while on these pills. Be patient with your body.

I completely understand getting anxious about how prescription drugs affect your body, it is a very common and scary feeling. However, beta blockers don't typically cause weight loss. If you are feeling worried about any side effects, sharing them with your doctor will bring you peace of mind.

Weight loss is not a standard side effect of beta blockers, so if you are losing weight unexpectedly, it is highly advisable to get a thorough medical checkup. It could be related to some other thyroid or metabolic factor, so please consult your doctor for safety.

Actually yaar, beta blockers don't cause weight loss at all, they usually make you gain a bit because they slow everything down. If you're losing weight suddenly, you should probably talk to your doc because that's not the usual side effect of these meds.

When I suddenly started losing weight on my cardiac meds, I ignored it thinking it was good, but it turned out to be a thyroid complication. Please learn from my experience and consult your doctor to run some blood panels if you are noticing weight changes.
