Can zoloft cause weight gain or loss?

I've been taking Zoloft for a few months now, and my weight has been fluctuating quite a bit. Some days I feel hungrier, other days I have less appetite. Does Zoloft typically cause weight gain or loss, or can it vary?

My mother always says that any long-term medication changes our body's natural balance. However, my doctor explained that Zoloft can cause initial weight loss due to nausea, but some people might experience weight gain over the long term. I trust his advice and suggest talking to your doctor to monitor it.

Hey sweetie, don't stress too much about the weight right now! Your mental peace is way more important than a few kgs here and there. Just focus on feeling better, and you can easily manage your weight later with some light walking.

Every person's metabolism reacts differently to SSRIs, so online reviews will only confuse you. Don't go trying random diets to counter it. Speak directly to your psychiatrist to understand how to manage weight changes clinically.

I can only share my personal experience with Zoloft. Initially, I lost about 3 kgs because I completely lost my appetite in the first month. But after my anxiety settled, my appetite returned to normal and I gained that weight back.

I just started Zoloft three days ago and I am terrified of gaining weight. Has anyone here actually managed to lose weight or stay exactly the same while taking it? I would love to hear some reassuring experiences.

I remember crying when I realized I had gained weight after starting my treatment, it felt like I was trading one struggle for another. But looking back, getting my mental health stable was the best decision I ever made. Please be gentle with yourself during this process.

I was so worried about this when I started Zoloft! For me, it caused a bit of weight gain because my constant nervous anxiety used to keep me from eating, and once I felt better, my appetite came back. Drinking lots of water and simple home-cooked meals really helped keep it in check.

Beta, these medicines alter the chemicals in the body, which can definitely change your weight. Along with your daily dose, make sure you walk in the fresh air and drink simple warm water in the morning to keep your digestion active and healthy.

I noticed a slight increase in weight after six months on Zoloft. With my busy schedule, I couldn't cook complex meals, so I just started portion control and tracking my daily steps. It easily helped me manage the weight without any stress.

It is completely normal to feel a bit anxious about this, but try not to worry. Any weight changes on Zoloft are usually gradual and very manageable. Focus on your recovery first, and we can always figure out a healthy routine for your weight later.

Let's be practical: some people gain, some lose. It mostly comes down to how your eating habits change once your mood stabilizes. Keep an eye on your calorie intake, stay active, and don't blame every single pound on the pill.

It can actually go both ways. In the first few weeks, minor weight loss is common due to mild nausea or reduced appetite. In the long run, as your mood improves and you start enjoying food again, some weight gain can occur. Just keep a balanced lifestyle.

Yes, these pills can upset your natural weight balance. I always suggest keeping a ginger and lemon slice handy if you feel nauseous and lose your appetite. Keeping a simple, timely routine for your meals will prevent major weight fluctuations.

Weight changes on SSRIs are mostly linked to changes in appetite and metabolic rate. If you want to prevent unwanted weight gain, focus on a high-protein diet and some basic strength training. It keeps your metabolism active and also boosts your mood naturally.

With my slow metabolism, even looking at food makes me gain weight, so starting Zoloft definitely added a couple of kilos. But hey, at least I am not worrying about every little thing anymore! I guess a slightly rounder belly is a fair trade for peace of mind.
