Can you take weight loss medication with hypothyroidism?

I have hypothyroidism and have been finding it really hard to lose weight. I'm considering some weight loss medication. Will taking these affect my thyroid condition or medication?

Managing thyroid is like managing sugar; you have to be very careful with what you take. Some weight loss pills can interfere with your thyroxine absorption. Please consult your endocrinologist before starting anything.

I know how frustrating it is when thyroid makes you gain weight despite eating healthy; the anxiety is very real. But please don't take any OTC weight loss pills. Get your thyroid levels checked and discuss options with your doctor.

My cousin has thyroid and was super desperate to lose weight for a wedding, so she asked her doctor about weight loss pills. The doc strictly said no because it messes with the daily thyroid meds. Better to avoid!

I ignored my thyroid imbalance and took some fat burners, which gave me severe anxiety and heart issues. Please don't do this. Go get your TSH checked and let a qualified doctor guide your weight loss.

I panicked when my weight spiked due to hypo, and I almost bought some random weight loss tea. Thankfully, my doctor adjusted my thyroid dose and my weight naturally stabilized. Have patience, it gets better!
