Can you still ovulate in the early stages of pregnancy?

We are trying to conceive, and I'm tracking my cycle closely. I'm wondering, if conception happens very early in the cycle, can ovulation still occur in the early stages of pregnancy before you even know for sure?

I have been feeling some mild pain on one side of my lower stomach that feels exactly like my usual ovulation pain, even though my pregnancy test was positive last week. Honestly, I am getting very anxious about this. Did anyone else experience similar sensations in early pregnancy?

I panicked about this too during my first trimester because of some weird twinges. But my doctor reassured me that your body stops releasing eggs completely once you are pregnant due to high progesterone. The sensations you feel are usually just your uterus stretching or your corpus luteum cyst doing its job.

Biologically, ovulation is suppressed during pregnancy to protect the developing embryo. While there are extremely rare medical anomalies, for all practical purposes, it does not happen. If you are experiencing any pain or unusual symptoms, consulting your obstetrician is the best way to get accurate answers.

Nope, once the baby is on board, your ovaries go on a long vacation! 🏖️ Your hormones shift completely to support the pregnancy, so ovulation stops. Those little cramps you might be feeling are super common and nothing to worry about, just your body adjusting!

I literally asked my doctor this exact question last month during my six-week scan because I felt egg-white discharge. She explained that cervical mucus changes are totally normal in early pregnancy, but ovulation definitely doesn't happen. Rest easy, your body is just doing its pregnancy work.
