Can you lay on your stomach in early pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester, about 10 weeks pregnant, and I usually sleep on my stomach. Lately, I'm worried if it's safe for the baby. Is it okay to lay on your stomach in early pregnancy?

In our home, elders usually tell us to sleep only on the side from day one, but my doctor assured me that early on it is completely fine. The baby is well protected deep inside the pelvis. Follow what your gynaecologist suggests for your comfort.

According to my pregnancy tracker app, sleeping on your stomach is totally safe in the first trimester because the uterus is still quite small. I monitored my sleep quality daily on my smart band, and honestly, sleep however you find comfort right now before the bump grows.

Yes, you can absolutely do it in the early weeks. Just try using a soft pregnancy pillow around your waist for some extra support when you feel restless.

Beta, don't worry so much in these early weeks. I slept on my stomach during the first two months of both my pregnancies and my kids are healthy adults now. Your body will naturally make you shift to your side once the belly starts showing anyway.

My sister was super paranoid about this during her first trimester! She literally asked her doc who laughed and said it's totally chill to sleep on your stomach for now. So don't stress, enjoy your comfortable sleep while you still can!

I see this question a lot here, and the general consensus is that early pregnancy stomach sleeping is perfectly fine. As the weeks progress, you will naturally find it uncomfortable and switch to sleeping on your left side. Just listen to your body and don't force any position.
