Can you drink alcohol on semaglutide for weight loss?

I'm on semaglutide for weight loss, and it's been working well. My friends are planning a party, and I'm wondering about alcohol. Can you drink alcohol on semaglutide for weight loss, or should I skip it?

I recently started my dose and I am so nervous about side effects. I had just half a glass of wine last weekend and got such bad nausea and stomach cramps. Did anyone else also feel super sick after drinking even a tiny bit on this medication?

While there is no absolute contraindication, alcohol can significantly increase the risk of pancreatitis and hypoglycemia when combined with semaglutide. For a safe and effective weight loss journey, it is highly recommended to limit your intake. Your consulting doctor's advice is ultimately the best guide here.

From the research papers I have been reading, semaglutide slows down your stomach emptying. So if you drink alcohol, it stays in your system longer and can cause extreme acid reflux or nausea. Plus, alcohol has so many calories, which kind of defeats the whole weight loss purpose, right?

I always prefer natural ways like warm warm water with lemon, but I know many are using these modern treatments now. Alcohol can really mess with your stomach when you are on this medicine. If you feel bloated, try having some ginger tea, but honestly, it's best to keep alcohol away.

Hey, don't stress too much about missing out on drinks! While a tiny sip might not do much, mixing alcohol and semaglutide usually leads to bad acidity and ruins your weight loss progress anyway. Just stick to sparkling water with lime when you go out with the gang, it works like a charm!

I can only share my own journey, but when I tried having a beer while on my weekly dose, I got a horrible headache and zero buzz. My body just rejected it. Since then, I have completely cut out alcohol. You should definitely check with your prescribing doctor about your specific case.

These new foreign injections can have strong effects on the liver and stomach. I always suggest natural eating and walking instead, but if you are taking this, please avoid alcohol to prevent liver strain. If you get severe stomach pain or vomiting, don't wait at home, go see your doctor immediately.
