Can you drink alcohol during pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant, and my in-laws told me to completely stop alcohol. My friend, though, said a small glass on occasion won't harm. Can you drink alcohol during pregnancy, or is it truly a strict no-no?

To be direct and realistic, there is no known safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy. It directly crosses the placenta and can affect the baby's development. It is best to avoid it completely for these nine months. If you have already had some before knowing, just discuss it honestly with your gynac.

I was just reading some medical articles about this yesterday. Actually, most international health organizations advise a strict zero-alcohol policy during pregnancy. It's just not worth the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome, even a small glass is discouraged. Mocktails are a much safer bet!

I totally get it, sometimes at family weddings or parties you just want to join the toast and feel normal. But honestly, for the baby's safety, it is best to stay completely away from alcohol right now. Your peace of mind is worth more than a drink, and this phase will pass soon!

When I was pregnant, I researched this extensively because of so much conflicting advice online. My doctor clearly explained that alcohol can lead to developmental delays and there is no 'safe' limit. She advised me to stay 100% alcohol-free, which I did. Please consult your obstetrician to be safe.

Look, as someone who works in healthcare, I always tell my friends to just avoid alcohol completely during pregnancy. There is no mild or safe dose when it comes to a developing baby. If you are having cravings or feel uneasy, try some fresh fruit juice or coconut water instead.

Haan na, pregnancy cravings can be so weird and strong sometimes! But alcohol is a big no-no for the baby's growth, ho na? Better to be completely safe and avoid it. Just ask your doctor for some healthy drink options you can enjoy instead.
