Can you bleed in early pregnancy?

This is my second pregnancy, and I'm around 8 weeks along. I've had some light spotting off and on for the past two days. My first pregnancy was very smooth, so this is new for me. Is bleeding common in early pregnancy?

Oh, the early pregnancy days! I remember seeing a tiny spot of blood and staying awake till 4 AM googling terrifying things. Save your sleep and your sanity—just text your gynecologist in the morning, they deal with this daily.

I had light pink spotting around week 6 of my pregnancy, which my doctor said was implantation bleeding. It stopped in a day, but I still got a scan done just to be absolutely sure. It’s best to let your doctor know.

Yes, spotting in early pregnancy can happen due to hormonal shifts or implantation. However, because it can also indicate other complications, a professional medical evaluation is the safest route. Please consult your doctor.

Yes, it is common, but you must rest your body completely. Do not do any heavy stretching or yoga during this time, and lie down. Please let a doctor examine you to ensure everything is progressing naturally.

Seeing blood when you’ve just found out you are pregnant is incredibly scary, and my heart goes out to you. Try to stay calm—very often it turns out to be nothing serious, but getting medical reassurance is so important for peace of mind.
