Can weight loss help gerd?

I've been suffering from GERD for quite some time now, and my doctor keeps advising me to lose weight. He says it might reduce the symptoms. I'm curious, can weight loss really help with GERD?

Actually, yes! Weight loss reduces the pressure on your stomach which prevents acid from coming up, yaar. It worked wonders for my chronic heartburn.

I know how exhausting it is to wake up choking on acid every night, it really drains you emotionally. Losing weight is a slow process but please stick to it, it truly helps reduce the severity.

Bro, my dad had terrible GERD and the doctor told him to lose weight. He dropped like 8 kgs and now he doesn't even need his daily morning pills. It's crazy how much it helps.

At our age, even looking at biryani causes GERD! But yes, dropping a few kilos definitely gave my stomach some breathing room. Now I can sleep without three pillows propping me up.

Along with losing weight, you should drink a glass of cold milk or fennel water in the morning. Avoid eating heavy meals after sunset. These old ways really help soothe the burning sensation.

Shedding excess weight relaxes the digestive tract. Practicing Vajrasana after meals and light pranayama can also strengthen your digestive fire and prevent acid reflux naturally.
