Can ulcers cause weight loss?

I've been feeling quite unwell lately with stomach pain and discomfort, and my doctor suspects I might have ulcers. I've also noticed some unexplained weight loss. Can ulcers cause weight loss, or should I be looking for other reasons?

My husband had a stomach ulcer a few years ago and he ended up losing about seven kilos because eating anything made his stomach burn terribly. He only got his appetite and weight back after completing his full course of medication. Everyone's body is different, so please consult a gastroenterologist for your specific symptoms.

Yes, indeed, stomach ulcers can lead to weight loss because the pain makes you avoid eating altogether. In my younger days, I suffered from a severe peptic ulcer and lost quite a bit of weight, but once the treatment was complete, I recovered fully. Do not worry, just seek timely medical help and you will get your health back.

Yes, they absolutely can! When you have an ulcer, eating often causes severe bloating, nausea, or sharp pain, so you naturally start eating much less, leading to weight loss. Try eating very small, bland meals like boiled rice or oats throughout the day, and make sure to visit a doctor to get the right antacids.

My teenage daughter developed stomach ulcers due to exam stress and skipped meals, and she lost a lot of weight very quickly. I had to feed her light khichdi and cold milk in small intervals to keep her strength up while her stomach healed. Please make sure you don't skip meals and get proper medicines from a doctor.

Yes, ulcers can cause you to lose weight because eating becomes painful and uncomfortable. Please try to take care of yourself, eat soft foods in small portions, and do see a doctor soon so you can start feeling better.
