Can type 2 diabetes be reversed with diet?

My uncle managed to control his Type 2 diabetes quite well just by changing his eating habits. I'm also pre-diabetic and want to avoid medication. Can Type 2 diabetes truly be reversed solely through diet changes, or is it more complex?

Diet plays a huge role, but don't ignore other factors. Along with my high BP, I had to completely change my salt and carb intake to see improvements. Just make sure you monitor your blood pressure and sugar levels at home regularly.

I have both thyroid and borderline sugar, so my metabolism is very slow. Changing my diet helped, but regular blood tests and adjusting doses with my doctor is what actually keeps me stable. Never stop your checkups even if you feel fine.

Listen, I cut out sugar, junk food, and reduced my rice intake to almost zero for six months. My HbA1c came down from 7.8 to 5.4. Diet definitely works wonders, but you have to be extremely consistent with it.

A low-carb, high-protein diet is the foundation of managing type 2 diabetes, and yes, it can lead to clinical remission. But please don't stop your prescribed medicines abruptly without consulting your doctor. Let them gradually taper the dosage based on your reports.

I just got my latest reports yesterday and my HbA1c is 5.5 without any meds! I strictly followed a portion-controlled diet with zero refined carbs for the last 8 months. It takes time and patience, but it is absolutely possible.

Actually, I was reading some clinical studies on this. It seems that a very low-calorie diet can shrink the fat around the pancreas, which helps it produce insulin properly again. It is fascinating how much diet can do.
