Can taking estrogen help with weight loss?

Since entering menopause, losing weight has become really hard, and I've heard some people say estrogen can help. Is it true that taking estrogen could actually aid in weight loss for women like me?

I just finished my hormone replacement therapy, and honestly, estrogen alone didn't make me lose weight. It did help with my mood and energy, which made it easier to go to the gym. Don't expect it to be a magical fat burner.

Listen, please don't start thinking of hormone pills as a weight loss shortcut. They are heavy medicines meant to balance your body, not burn fat. Be patient with your body, focus on healthy habits, and let a proper doctor guide you.

If hormone pills could easily melt away this stubborn belly fat, my doctor would have prescribed them to me years ago! Sadly, there are no easy shortcuts for us. We still have to do the hard work of cutting down on sweets and walking.

Estrogen won't directly cause fat loss. The only way to lose weight is a consistent calorie deficit and regular exercise. Focus on eating high-protein, fiber-rich foods and lifting weights to boost your metabolism naturally.

When I asked about this, my doctor explained that while estrogen can help redistribute fat away from the belly during menopause, it is not a weight loss drug. In fact, incorrect doses can actually cause fluid retention and bloating. Please get a proper hormonal panel done first.

Instead of buying expensive hormone supplements that might not even work, invest that money in a proper hormone blood panel first. It costs around 1500 to 2500 rupees. That way, you will know exactly what your body needs without wasting money on random pills.
