Can progestin cause weight loss?

I'm on a form of birth control that contains progestin, and I've actually lost a few kilos since starting it. Is it possible that progestin can cause weight loss? I thought hormone treatments usually caused weight gain.

Actually, progestin is more famous for causing weight gain or bloating yaar. But honestly, everyone's body reacts differently to hormones. If you are losing weight suddenly, you should probably check with your doctor to make sure it's normal.

Hey, when I was on a progestin pill, I actually felt a bit more bloated rather than losing weight. But sometimes when your hormones balance out, you might lose excess water weight. Just keep eating healthy and track how you feel.

If progestin is helping you lose weight, you are very lucky! Usually, these hormone pills just trigger massive junk food cravings for me. Just make sure you are eating enough nutritious food and not skipping meals.

Any unexpected weight loss while taking synthetic hormones like progestin should be evaluated by a medical professional. It is always better to get a routine checkup done to ensure there are no underlying metabolic or thyroid issues causing the change.

My daughter was prescribed progestin for her irregular cycles and she actually lost a couple of kilos because her constant swelling went down. But we made sure she was eating home-cooked meals and not starving. Please take care of your diet.

Don't stress too much about this. Hormonal shifts can cause minor fluctuations in water weight, but a major drop is rare from progestin alone. Keep an eye on your energy levels and don't hesitate to reach out to a doctor if you feel weak.

With my PCOS, I've had to take various hormone pills, and they usually make me gain a bit of water weight instead of losing it. Everyone's endocrine system is unique, so please be cautious and discuss any sudden weight changes with your gynecologist.
