Can pooping a lot cause weight loss?

I've been going to the washroom much more frequently lately, and I've also noticed a slight drop in my weight. My friend joked about it being a 'poop diet'. Is there actually any truth to it? Can pooping a lot cause weight loss?

In our days, we knew that frequent motions only make the body weak by losing water, not real weight. You should drink some light buttermilk with cumin or warm water with a little fennel to soothe your stomach. If it continues, please consult a proper doctor instead of neglecting it.

No, it mostly just causes water loss and dehydration, not actual fat loss. If it is happening too much, you should see a doctor.

Haan na, people often think they are losing weight, but actually it is just water weight and dehydration. Thoda weakness feel hone lagta hai if it goes on for days. Better to drink ORS and show a doctor if it doesn't stop.

I once ignored chronic diarrhea thinking it was just a stomach bug and ended up severely dehydrated in the hospital. It doesn't cause real weight loss, just makes you very weak and depletes your nutrients. Please don't ignore this and get a proper medical checkup done.

Scientifically speaking, frequent bowel movements just deplete your body of fluids and electrolytes, not adipose tissue. If you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight loss along with changes in bowel habits, it could point to an underlying gut issue. A doctor's advice is definitely the best course of action here.

Bro, that's just your body losing water and making u feel lighter, it's not real fat loss. If u are pooping way too much, u are probably sick, so pls go get some meds from a doctor and eat simple khichdi.

I agree, it's just water loss which can be dangerous, especially if you have other health issues like diabetes where dehydration can mess up your sugar levels. If you are drinking juices to recover, make sure there is no added sugar. Please consult your physician if it persists.

Honestly, I would be panicking and thinking of the worst if this was happening to me. It is definitely not healthy weight loss, and losing too much water can make you dizzy. Please keep drinking coconut water or ORS and visit a clinic just to be safe!
