Can pilates help with weight loss?

I'm looking for a new workout routine to help me lose some weight and get toned. My friend swears by Pilates for weight loss. Is Pilates effective for weight loss, or is it more for flexibility?

My sports doctor explained that pilates is great for building lean muscle mass and strengthening your core, which boosts your metabolism. However, for active weight loss, it needs to be paired with a calorie-deficit diet and some cardiovascular exercises like brisk walking.

It definitely helps, but don't expect to lose weight if you follow a intense pilates session with three plates of butter chicken! It burns calories and tones you up, but you still have to lock up the kitchen cabinet at night.

I've been looking into this because my gym routine is getting boring. From what I've read, pilates doesn't burn as many calories as running or HIIT, but it keeps your core tight and muscles toned. It seems like a great addition to a healthy lifestyle.

I was so anxious that pilates wouldn't be fast enough for my weight loss goals, but it actually changed my body shape by toning my muscles. Don't stress too much about the daily weight scale; the strength and posture you gain is totally worth it.

It is a good workout, but please be careful if you have any joint or back issues. I rushed into heavy pilates reformer workouts to lose weight fast and ended up injuring my lower back. Please consult a doctor before starting any new fitness regime.

Yes, pilates is very helpful for shaping your body and building core strength. If you pair it with healthy, home-cooked food, you will definitely see good results over time.
