Can perimenopause cause weight loss?

Everyone talks about perimenopause causing weight gain, but I've actually started losing weight without trying. Could perimenopause cause weight loss for some women, or should I get this checked out seriously?

Most people talk about gaining weight, but if perimenopause is giving you weight loss, please share the secret! Honestly though, with my zero sleep and hormonal chaos, sudden weight changes can happen. Keep an eye on it so you aren't ignoring something else.

While weight gain is more common during this phase, hormonal shifts can sometimes cause weight loss due to stress or loss of muscle mass. Make sure you are eating enough protein and doing basic strength training to protect your muscles.

I tried all kinds of herbal teas and methi water when my weight started fluctuating during my late 40s. While home remedies can keep your digestion smooth, sudden weight loss needs a doctor's attention to rule out any thyroid issues.

I totally get it, seeing unexpected changes in your weight can be really unsettling when you are already dealing with hormonal changes. It's so hard when you don't know what your body is doing. Take care and please consult your doctor to be safe.

My mom went through something similar where she suddenly lost a lot of weight instead of gaining. It turned out to be an overactive thyroid that got triggered during her perimenopause phase. Definitely get a full blood panel done to check everything.

Hormones can be very unpredictable during this transition. Please don't worry too much, but do visit your doctor to make sure your thyroid and other parameters are perfectly normal.

When my sister started losing weight during perimenopause, we thought it was just hormonal. But we got her checked and it was actually early-stage diabetes setting in. Please get your fasting blood sugar and HbA1c checked along with other routine tests.

Haan yaar, hormonal changes can really mess up our metabolism, na? But sudden weight loss is not very common during perimenopause. It is better to get a proper blood checkup done to make sure your thyroid is working fine.

At our age, our bodies seem to play a new game of surprises every morning. While most of us are fighting the belly fat, sudden weight loss is definitely a reason to put down the tea cup and visit the doctor for a proper checkup.

My wife's gynecologist at the hospital mentioned that while weight gain is standard, unexplained weight loss should always be investigated. It could be due to stress, thyroid, or digestive issues. Please book an appointment and ask your doctor clearly.
