Can omeprazole cause weight loss?

I started taking Omeprazole a few months ago for my GERD symptoms. Since then, I've actually lost a little bit of weight without trying. Could Omeprazole be causing this weight loss?

Arre, don't stress too much, dear! Omeprazole itself doesn't directly burn fat or cause weight loss. It might just be that your stomach feels better, or maybe you are eating less because of the acid reflux. Just focus on eating healthy meals!

Haha, I wish popping an acidity pill could help me lose weight, then I could skip the gym entirely! Omeprazole won't make you lose weight directly. If you are losing weight, it's probably because you are avoiding spicy food to prevent acidity.

Weight loss depends on your daily calorie intake and physical activity like walking or jogging. Omeprazole just reduces stomach acid, it doesn't impact fat loss. Keep up with your active lifestyle and consult your doctor if you notice sudden unexplained weight changes.

Hey there! Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, so its only job is to reduce stomach acid. It doesn't have any weight loss properties. If you're experiencing sudden weight loss, please check in with your doctor to rule out other digestive issues.

I track my daily steps and calories on my smartwatch, and when I was taking omeprazole, my weight didn't change at all. The medication doesn't affect your metabolism. If you are tracking your food and still losing weight unexpectedly, it is best to consult your physician.

I was on omeprazole for three months due to a severe stomach ulcer. I lost about 4 kgs, but my doctor told me it was because I was on a very bland, low-fat diet, not because of the pill. Fix your food habits and the weight will stabilize naturally.

I have been taking omeprazole on and off for my gastric troubles over the past twenty years. Trust me, it has never caused any weight loss for me. Don't worry, just focus on keeping your stomach calm with simple home-cooked meals.

I was actually researching this online because my uncle lost some weight after starting his acidity medication. Some forums say that treating chronic acid reflux can change your appetite, but it's not a weight-loss drug. Has anyone else noticed this?

If you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight loss while on this medication, don't ignore it to save on clinic fees. Book a basic health package and consult your doctor. It is much cheaper to find the cause early than to treat complications later.

When I had my checkup at Max Hospital, I asked the gastroenterologist about this. He clearly told me that omeprazole does not cause weight loss. Any sudden weight change should be investigated, so you should ask your doctor clearly about it.
