Can not sleeping cause weight loss?

I've been under a lot of stress lately, which has severely disrupted my sleep. I barely get 3-4 hours of sleep most nights. I've also noticed significant weight loss, which is unusual for me. Can not sleeping properly cause weight loss?

Actually, my fitness tracker data shows that sleep deprivation usually leads to weight gain, not loss, because it spikes cortisol and slows down metabolism. While some people might lose a bit of muscle weight due to high stress and skipping meals, it is highly unhealthy and temporary. Focus on getting 7 hours of quality sleep.

Yes, high stress from sleep loss can sometimes kill your appetite and cause temporary weight loss, but it is very unhealthy.

While most people gain weight from sleep deprivation due to late-night binging, high anxiety combined with severe insomnia can sometimes burn out your body and cause rapid, unhealthy weight loss. Please prioritize your rest and consult a doctor if you are losing weight rapidly without trying.

With PCOS, lack of sleep severely worsens insulin resistance, which almost always triggers weight gain and sugar cravings rather than weight loss. Everyone's body reacts differently to stress, but please check with your doctor if you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight changes along with sleep issues.

I wish my lack of sleep caused weight loss, but my late-night trips to the fridge ensure only my belly grows! Joking aside, sleep deprivation messes up your body's systems so badly that any weight loss you see is probably just muscle loss and dehydration. Sleep properly!

My son lost a lot of weight during his board exams because he was barely sleeping 4 hours a night and completely lost his appetite due to stress. It made him look so weak and pale. I had to force him to sleep early and gave him warm, nourishing soups to help him regain his strength.
