Can metronidazole cause miscarriage in early pregnancy?

I was prescribed metronidazole for an infection, but I just found out I'm in very early pregnancy. I'm extremely worried about the baby. Can metronidazole cause a miscarriage in early pregnancy?

I absolutely panicked when my doctor prescribed metronidazole in my first trimester for an infection. I thought it would cause a miscarriage, but the doctor reassured me that untreated infections are actually much more dangerous for the baby. My pregnancy went perfectly fine, so don't worry.

I totally get it, being pregnant makes you feel so protective and every little pill feels like a risk. Most medical studies say metronidazole is safe, but your peace of mind is important, so please discuss your fears openly with your doctor.

There is no strong clinical evidence linking metronidazole to miscarriage. However, if you are experiencing any red-flag symptoms like bleeding, cramping, or severe pain, skip the internet and go to your doctor or emergency room immediately.

Having managed complex health conditions, I know how critical correct medication is. Studies generally show metronidazole does not increase miscarriage risk, but when pregnant, your gynecologist must evaluate the risk-benefit ratio first.

Please don't trust random online forums or self-proclaimed health experts on this topic. Pregnancy is highly sensitive, and only your gynecologist can decide if metronidazole is safe for your specific case. Always verify with your doctor before taking any pill.

Try to stay calm and don't stress. Metronidazole is widely used and generally safe in early pregnancy, but please do talk to your doctor to clear any doubts.

During my wife's pregnancy, we were super careful with every single tablet due to her high BP issues. Metronidazole is commonly prescribed for infections and is generally considered safe, but close doctor follow-up is a must.
