Can magnesium citrate help with weight loss?

My cousin mentioned that magnesium citrate can sometimes help with weight management. I'm looking for natural ways to support my weight loss journey. Is this true, and how does it actually work?

At my age, I have seen many weight loss fads come and go. Magnesium citrate is basically a laxative, so any weight you lose is just water and waste. Don't use it as a shortcut for weight loss, it won't burn actual fat.

Focus on keeping your mind calm and your body well-nourished. Magnesium citrate can help clean your system, but true wellness and weight balance come from a peaceful lifestyle and positive habits. Take care of yourself.

Agreed. It only helps clear your bowels, so the minor weight loss is just temporary water weight.

My college-going daughter tried this after reading some online trends, and she ended up with terrible stomach cramps and weakness. Please don't let anyone use this for weight loss. It is a laxative and can cause severe dehydration in young people.

Haha, if magnesium citrate actually burned fat, I would eat double the chole bhature and just pop a pill! Sadly, it just makes you run to the washroom. Stick to a good workout if you want to eat guilt-free!

My family doctor clearly warned me against using magnesium citrate for weight loss. Since it is an osmotic laxative, using it long-term can lead to severe electrolyte imbalance and dehydration. It should only be used occasionally for constipation under medical supervision.
