Can lung cancer cause weight loss?

Losing a significant amount of weight recently without even trying to diet or exercise more is concerning me. Especially since I've also had a nagging cough for a while. Is it possible for lung cancer to cause unexplained weight loss?

Yes, sudden unexplained weight loss is actually one of the major warning signs of lung issues. Keeping my high BP in check taught me that sudden physical changes need immediate attention. Go get a full checkup and scan done without delay.

I used to lose weight rapidly due to hyperthyroidism, but sudden weight loss can also indicate serious pulmonary issues. Regular testing and close doctor follow-up are the only ways to find out what is actually going on. Please book an appointment with a specialist.

During my uncle's illness, he lost almost 10 kgs in just two months before we even knew he had lung issues. The doctors explained that cancer cells use up a lot of the body's energy. It is highly recommended to seek medical help if you notice sudden weight drops.

While uncontrolled diabetes can also cause sudden weight loss, lung cancer is another major reason for rapid weight drops due to changes in metabolism. If your diet hasn't changed but you are losing weight, consult a doctor immediately for proper diagnostic scans.
