Can lowering cortisol cause weight loss?

Reading a lot about stress and its effect on weight, I know cortisol is involved. I often feel quite stressed these days, and also find it hard to lose weight. If I try to lower my cortisol levels, could that help with weight loss?

In my high-stress corporate days, I gained so much belly fat that wouldn't budge. Only when I retired and my stress levels dropped did the weight finally come off. Lowering your stress hormones absolutely changes how your body holds onto fat, so take it easy.

Stress is the root of many illnesses in the body, beta. Drinking warm milk with a little ashwagandha at night helps calm the nerves and reduces this stress hormone. When your mind is at peace, your digestion improves and the heavy weight in the body naturally reduces.

Our bodies hold onto physical weight when we carry too much emotional weight and worry. Staying positive and spending time in nature can do wonders to lower your cortisol naturally. Take deep breaths and take care of your beautiful mind, the body will align on its own.

From what I see daily, chronic high cortisol keeps your body in fight-or-flight mode, which makes it hoard fat, especially around the abdomen. Lowering it through proper sleep and stress management helps normalize your insulin levels. This makes weight loss much easier and more sustainable.

I cannot comment on the medical science behind it, but I can share what happened to me. When I stopped doing heavy, exhausting workouts and switched to calm walks and better sleep, my body felt less stressed and I lost 5 kgs without changing my diet much.

I read so many articles about cortisol and weight gain and honestly got so paranoid that my stress was making me fat. But once I focused on sleeping on time and not reading scary health forums at night, my bloating actually went down. Try to relax, you are doing fine!

My mother always says that a calm mind leads to a healthy stomach, which is so true. But when I was struggling with weight, I also consulted our family doctor who explained how cortisol affects metabolic health. Definitely focus on reducing stress, but do keep your doctor in the loop.

My daughter was studying for competitive exams and gained a lot of weight due to exam stress and high cortisol. We made sure she took breaks, ate fresh home-cooked meals, and went for short evening walks. Once her stress settled, her weight came back to normal too.
