Can liver problems cause weight loss?

I've been losing weight without really trying, and it's starting to worry me. My cousin recently had some liver issues, and she also lost a lot of weight. Can liver problems cause significant weight loss?

Unexplained weight loss can definitely happen if the liver isn't digesting food or absorbing nutrients properly. Instead of getting tense and trying expensive diet plans, just get a basic liver function test and consult your family doctor.

Please take sudden weight loss very seriously. I ignored my dropping weight thinking it was just stress, but it turned out to be a severe liver complication that required hospital care. Please consult a specialist immediately.

I lost a lot of weight during my exams last semester and thought it was just college stress, but my doc said my liver enzymes were totally off due to bad eating habits. Definitely get checked if you are losing weight without even trying.

Unexplained muscle or weight loss is a classic sign of advanced liver dysfunction or cachexia. Stop looking for quick tips on the internet and schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist as soon as possible.

Usually, I'd be happy about losing weight, but losing it suddenly because your liver is struggling to process fats is not fun at all. If you have lost your appetite for your favorite foods, it's a major sign to visit a doctor.

I made the mistake of ignoring my sudden weight loss, thinking my daily hard work was the reason, and ended up with a severe liver issue. Do not make the same mistake I did; please get a proper medical checkup immediately.
