Can lifting weights cause weight loss?

Trying to lose some weight and get fitter, a friend suggested I should focus more on lifting weights instead of just cardio. Can lifting weights alone effectively help with weight loss, or is it more about building muscle?

Lifting weights is actually great for increasing your resting metabolic rate, which helps with weight loss. Just make sure to get your thyroid checked regularly too, as a slow thyroid can sometimes block your progress despite workouts.

Yes, lifting weights helps strengthen the body and reduce fat. However, balancing it with yoga and deep breathing ensures your muscles recover well and your stress hormones stay low.

I totally get how confusing it is with everyone giving different advice on cardio vs weights. Lifting absolutely helps with weight loss by toning your body, so don't be afraid to pick up those dumbbells!

Definitely, bro! I lost around 12 kgs just by lifting heavy four times a week and eating in a calorie deficit. Cardo is good, but weights build muscle which burns fat even when you're sleeping.

I panicked when the scale didn't move after weeks of lifting, but then I realized my clothes were fitting so much better. You are losing fat and gaining muscle, which is actually the best kind of progress!

Treat your physical activity as a way of thanking and caring for your body. Lifting weights builds inner and outer strength, and when you are happy inside, weight loss happens naturally.
